Hi there!

I’ve spent a lot of time (three months) thinking about how I want to start my blog out.

I’ve been wanting to write so much lately, I have always loved and admired blogs and thought that they were so cool, so it’s only right that I try to create my own as an adult right?!

I’m not sure if I have much to say, but I want to try at least. A little background about me, I have been creating and selling fiber arts since 2018, and STATUS: PURGATORY got created somewhere within this timeline, but my memory has chosen not to remember exactly when. I started out doing hand embroidery, which slowly expanded to exploring other fiber arts like sewing, crochet, knitting, and felting.

I am a mother of two, a five year old and a 7 week old at the time of writing this. I don’t know how many of you who are reading this have kids, if any of you, but our newest addition to the family definitely keeps me from being as productive as I would like. He is a contrast to how my oldest was, as she was just happy to be around me and enjoyed watching me embroider my days away. This new kid? Not so much. And thats okay, I’m trying to “roll with the punches”, and I think I am finally getting back into the (new) groove of things now. I organized one of my art desks yesterday so that alone is a win for me.

I will say that creating has become less of something that I just do, and more of an impulse, something I have to do to keep my sanity , living with an ADD partner, a 5 year old who is always on 10, and a newborn baby that loves to cluster nurse no matter how full his tummy is. I feel like if I am not creating, trying to further this brand, then I’m not only letting one of my dreams slip through my fingers, but also my sanity. Is that dark? I cannot tell, but oh well, it’s the truth, I only hope no one will hold it against me.

On a lighter note, to close out this first blog, lets talk about my current obsessions a little bit! They are:

-the song “satisfied” from the musical Hamilton. It just hits so hard for some reason. And the way Angelica sings “to your union” that second time around is literally (yes, literally) haunting my dreams.

-creating clothes for my little froggies. Since I’ve picked up knitting lately, i’ve been trying to knit sweaters because I like the way that they flow better than a crochet sweater, plus the knitted stitches look so much cozier to me.

-One Piece! As you all should know, I am a major anime fan, and am currently working my way through One Piece, and I’m almost to the time skip! At this moment, I am on episode 517, but apparently Netflix doesn’t have the next 500 episodes, so I’ll have to find another way to get up to date. Which I will admit, severely pisses me off.
